Most of our county cities and towns maintain and operate a network of outdoor warning sirens, designed to warn the public who are OUTDOORS and away from other types of warning devices.
The Emergency Warning Sirens will be activated whenever there is a danger to life and property.
For Tornado warnings, the sirens will sound with a 3-5 minute steady burst. We will give as much notification as possible. If this occurs:
- SEEK SHELTER IMMEDIATELY.
- Tune to your favorite local FM radio or Television stations, which are listed below.
- DO NOT CALL 911 unless you have an emergency to report.
- Don’t go outside to see the tornado as you may be injured by hail or flying debris.
There is an “all clear” signal designated for the sirens. This is an announcement you can get from listening to our LOCAL Radio stations.
Once the sirens have been activated take the appropriate action, then tune to:
- 104.7 FM The Rocket
- 103.1 FM Hot Country
- 107.1 FM KNID
- 95.7 FM KXLS
or the A.M. stations
Cable stations channels 4, 5, 9 and 25 for local information and from our GCEM weather center, cable channel 11 (Pegasys).
