Nancy’s uncle, Frank Frantz, was Oklahoma’s last Territorial Governor: one grandfather was a pioneer in the Cherokee Strip Opening while the other grandfather was a pioneer physician in Guthrie in 1889.
Nancy Frantz Davies graduated from Enid High School and attended Sweet Briar College in Virginia before graduating from the University of Oklahoma in 1949. She completed her teacher certification at Phillips University in Enid in 1966. She and her architect husband, Frank, moved to Ponca City for a short time before settling in Oklahoma City in 1952. She volunteered for the Junior League of Oklahoma City (president in 1964), YWCA Board, Planned Parenthood, PTA, Campfire Girls, and the Republican Party. She returned to Enid in 1965.
In 1966 she was appointed the first woman member of the Board of Regents at the University of Oklahoma, later serving as the first woman to be chairman for the Board of Regents.

She has been active in PEO, KAQ, and the First Presbyterian Church of Enid. She has three grown children, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
