Luckinbill Inc. began in Enid, Oklahoma as a plumbing and heating company in 1939 and was founded by Orville William Luckinbill.
During WWII, Orville was a controls technician at Champlin Refinery in Enid while still working on floor furnaces after hours. After the war, he returned to the business on a full-time basis. Since that time Luckinbill Inc. has become a statewide organization with the following specialties: plumbing, sheet metal, air conditioning and refrigeration installation and service, water, and sewer utility installation, digital controls, industrial painting, fire protection, and ASME welding. The company has offices in Enid, Oklahoma City, and Lawton and provides services in Woodward, Altus, and Tulsa, and has over 160 employees.
The Luckinbill family (original spelling) emigrated from southern Germany on the ship Thistle into Philadelphia on August 29, 1730. Orville, the second son of Hugh and Eva Luckinbill was married to LaBeth Grant on November 7, 1937 in Enid. Orville and LaBeth had three children, Robert Frank, who died in infancy, Dennis Lee, and Anna Beth.
Orville was chairman of the first Oklahoma Plumbing and Licensing Board in 1954, and president of the Oklahoma Association of Plumbing and Heating Contractors, as well as a board member of the national association. Orville and LaBeth were charter members of Emmanuel Baptist Church in 1961. Orville served as chairman of Enid Bass Hospital, the Oklahoma Baptist Rural Health Board, the Northwest Oklahoma Blood Institute, and the Enid YMCA. He was very active in the International Gideon Organization until his death on January 8, 1999.
