Oscar Curtis joined the Community of Heaven on Wednesday, September 7, 2005. He grew up in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and graduated with a business degree from the University of Arkansas in 1941.
He worked for the JC Penney Company for 38 years, serving stores in North Little Rock, San Antonio, and Beaumont, before moving to Enid in 1957. He managed the JC Penny store in Enid for 22 years, and retired in 1979.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Verneal, in 1967. Their daughter, Margaret Ann, survives him. His second wife, Pat, died in 1997. He is also survived by his son-in-law, Mike Bolen, his grandson and wife, Mark and Kelly Mourer, his great-granddaughter, Reese, and a brother and sister living in Arkansas.
Oscar was proud to live in and serve the Enid community for 45 years. He later moved to Oklahoma City in 2002 to be near his daughter and her husband.
During his time in Enid, he served the Greater Enid Chamber of Commerce, Retail Merchants Association, United Way, Oakwood Country Club, First Presbyterian Church, Air Force Association, Rotary, Senior AMBUCS, SCORE, and Enid City Council. He was honored with numerous awards for his dedication to promote these organizations.
